Metta Meditation is a traditional buddhist meditation practice that focuses your attention and intention on benevolence or loving kindness. In this practice, we use internally or silently repeated mantra connected with visualization and intention to manifest more loving kindness for all beings in this world – including and starting with ourselves. Metta Meditation can be practiced at anytime of the day, but may be found to be especially impactful when you practice it as a start to your day when you wake up, as an end to your day before going to sleep or when it is integrated into a ceremonial practice such as the welcoming of a new season or life transition. Try on each of these Metta Meditations with a variety of focal points on people in our lives and see which one helps you connect to loving kindness with the greatest ease and which one challenges your ability to tap into intention and benevolence. Each of these Metta Meditation practices is about 15 minutes long.
